When I look back through my memories I see how much the grief was percolating through my life. I can’t see it clearly, but I can see how certain things were obscured, but I don’t see it now. I think my relationship with Turkish has been defined by grief at every single stage. My dad and my relationship with Turkishness - that’s why I picked grief.
