The in-between state between rain and mist. That kind of rain for which an umbrella is not useful because it’s just kind of everywhere and it’s coating your skin. When I think of weather I think I think of water. Shanghai has this relationship with water with the river and with rain and of course the name ‘Shanghai’ means ‘above the sea’ or ‘on the sea’.

I picked the word ‘drizzle’. Drizzle in Mandarin is ‘xi yu’ (细雨).
